RE: Important Announcement: Introduction of Metal Detector at Educational Diversity

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this letter finds you well. We would like to inform you about a safety enhancement that will soon be implemented at Educational Diversity. The safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors are of paramount importance to us, and we are committed to taking all necessary measures to ensure a safe learning environment.

Starting Monday 11th September 2023, we will be introducing a metal detector system at the entrances of our school premises at the Pegasus site. This decision has been made after careful consideration and consultation with security experts, local law enforcement, and Blackpool Local Authority . The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the security measures in place and to further minimize any potential risks within the school.

The metal detector system will be used as a proactive tool to help us detect and deter the presence of prohibited items, such as weapons, on our school grounds. It is essential to emphasize that the implementation of this system is not a response to any specific threat but rather a preventive measure to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone within our school community.

Here are some key points to note:

  1. Non-Invasive Procedure: The metal detector system is non-invasive and will not pose any harm or inconvenience to students, staff, or visitors.

  2. Random Screenings: Screenings will be conducted randomly and unannounced to maintain a high level of effectiveness.

  3. Training: Our pastoral and leadership team have received specialized training to operate the metal detector system with professionalism and respect for privacy.

  4. Visitor Procedures: Visitors to the school, including parents, will also be subject to random screenings when entering the premises.

We understand that the introduction of a metal detector system may raise questions and concerns. Please know that we are committed to ensuring that this process is implemented with the utmost care and sensitivity.

If you have any questions, concerns, or if you would like more information about this initiative, we encourage you to reach out to me. We value your feedback and input and are dedicated to addressing any inquiries you may have.

The safety of our students remains our top priority, and we believe that the addition of a metal detector system is a proactive step toward maintaining a secure and nurturing learning environment. We appreciate your support and understanding as we work together to create a safer school community.

Thank you for your continued trust in Educational Diversity . We look forward to your cooperation and participation in this important safety measure.

Yours sincerely,

Victoria O’Farrell
