Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you and your families have had a safe summer holiday and are looking forward to the new academic year.

I am thrilled to be starting my Headship at Educational Diversity, I know that it is a wonderful place and I am excited to be leading it. You will want to know that I am committed to carrying on the excellent work of the previous Headteacher Wendy Casson, the Management Committee and the staff team, in finding increasingly better ways to support, motivate and inspire our young people to be as successful as possible in the future. I know that our students come to us at various points of their schooling- often as a result of their previous school placement having broken down, through ill-health, behaviour issues or other difficulties. My job is to do whatever I can to help them get back on track, either through a return to mainstream schooling or by completing their education with us, so that they emerge prepared to make a positive contribution to where they go next.

In the next few days and weeks, I will spend time getting to know your children, our staff and hopefully you. I truly value the contributions of everyone in our community and I am open to having constructive conversations with parents and carers, either face-to-face or on the phone. If you would like to discuss any issues with me, please do not hesitate to contact Barbara Lancaster on 01253 476735 to arrange a face-to-face, virtual or telephone meeting. In time, I would like Educational Diversity to set-up a parent group so that we can work together to make Educational Diversity even better. If you are particularly interested in joining the group please let us know. I will also be exploring ways to improve our communications with parents and carers by developing our website and social media platforms. All this is so that we can celebrate the successes of our young people as well as keep you fully informed of Educational Diversity activities.

For now, I wish you all the very best for the term ahead. I look forward to meeting your children and working with you, the staff and students to get the very best experiences for our community.

Yours faithfully

Victoria O’Farrell
