Welcome

Hello and welcome to our website here at Educational Diversity.

We are a Pupil Referral Unit and a Home, Hospital Education Service in Blackpool supporting young people from ages 6 to 16 who are unable to access mainstream provision due to either social, emotional, behavioural or medical needs.

I feel very fortunate to be Headteacher and both myself and my team are extremely proud of each and every one of our young people.  It is our belief that through the right guidance and support, all of our young people can achieve at the very highest level. Our year 11 learners who have just left achieved some fantastic results with 100% of them achieving at least one recognised qualification.  We ensure all of our learners have the opportunity to achieve qualifications in a wide variety of subject areas which will support them to access post 16 employment, education or training.

We have a dedicated team of highly skilled professionals who provide a holistic approach to learning in support of both the academic and the pastoral needs of our young people.

The Pupil Referral element of Educational Diversity is delivered from our Pegasus site, situated on Bathurst Avenue.  Pegasus support young people from KS2 to KS4 who have either been permanently excluded from their mainstream school or are at risk of exclusion.

Other young people attend our Home and Hospital Education Centre called Athena which is based on Whitegate Drive. This is for young people with medical or emotional needs, who are supported through CAMHS and medical practitioners.

We have a third setting called the Willows from which our alternative programmes are delivered in collaboration with external providers.  The Willows also houses our short term respite provision called Chrysalis, which aims to make positive behaviour change for young people at risk of exclusion.

Our vision demonstrates our commitment to work in partnership with the young people, their families and other agencies to improve the outcomes and equip each one of them with the skills to make a positive contribution to society.

“With confidence we learn, through challenge we grow, through commitment we achieve and together, we take control and realise our dreams”.

I hope you enjoy the website and if you have any questions or you would like further information, please do not hesitate in contacting directly.

Many thanks,

Wendy Casson
